PERIPARTUM HYSTERECTOMY -INCIDENCE, INDICATIONS, RISK FACTORS AND OUTCOMES AT A TERITIARY CARE HOSPITAL

Introduction: Peripartum hysterectomy is defined as a performed at the time, or within 24 hours, of delivery. It life saving procedure and becomes necessary when all medical surgical methods fail to control bleeding. associated with significant maternal morbidity mortality. Objectives: To determine incidence, indications, perinatal outcome peripartum Methods: A retrospective hospital based observational study women who underwent over period 2 years from January 2020 December 2021 in department Obstetrics Gynaecology, SIDDARTHA MEDICAL COLLEGE, VIJAYAWADA. Results: total 20 hysterectomies were done during period. Incidence was 1.08/1000 deliveries. Main indications uterine atony (45%), abnormal placentation (30%), rupture (10%). Total abdominal 15% cases subtotal 85% cases. There one death (5%) 5 deaths (25%). Conclusion: Atonic uterus commonest indication for hysterectomy. Previous scar, multiparity risk factors.
